Dr. Monica Rana holds both a Ph.D. and a Master’s in Public Health, bringing extensive experience in youth mental health. Her Ph.D. thesis centered on understanding the mental health impacts of bullying on youth and their families, along with developing interventions to reduce bullying perpetration. Dr. Rana has also worked with marginalized youth, including sexual and gender minority populations. As a South Asian, she is dedicated to researching health disparities among South Asian youth. Currently, she is also a sessional lecturer at the School of Nursing, where she teaches a course on the Health Impacts of Climate Change. Dr. Rana’s future research focuses on addressing health disparities among sexual and gender minority youth and ethnocultural groups that experience racism, with a particular emphasis on the role of intersectionality.
