Dr. Brittany Bingham is of mixed ancestry and a proud member of the shíshálh Nation. She has worked in various capacities in research with Indigenous communities and policy for over 15 years. She is currently leading Indigenous research strategy and initiatives at both VCH Indigenous Health and CGSHE. She is passionate about community-driven research, Indigenous research methods, health equity, Indigenous women’s health, housing and homelessness, cultural safety, implementation science and reconciliation. Brittany is overseeing Indigenous cultural safety and humility efforts across research practices at CGSHE/UBC and leading evaluation research for cultural safety initiatives across VCH. She has previously held leadership policy roles including Aboriginal Policy Analyst with the BC Ministry and led Indigenous research with Fraser Health Aboriginal Health. Brittany worked with the McCreary Centre Society and SARAVYC under the mentorship of Dr. Saewyc, in a leadership role for the Raven’s Children II and Moving Upstream: Aboriginal Marginalized and Street-Involved Youth in BC Reports. Her research program over the coming years will include conducting research that informs the MMIWG calls to justice and research that is driven by Indigenous community voices and priorities.
